How to Eat More Protein – Protein Milk

My job is to make your life a lot easier and to ensure you’re eating tasty food. With that being said, there was a point in time when I would eat an absurd amount of Greek yogurt just to ensure I was eating enough protein and let me tell you, NOW, I can’t stand the thought, smell or taste of Greek Yogurt. Protein milk on the other hand is not offensive in the slightest.

I first saw it in my local Walmart and was apprehensive about trying it because I have found that a lot of food on the market that is marketed as “high protein” taste rank. This milk tastes JUST like regular milk but has so much more protein. I like to use protein milk just like how I would normal milk: in my cereal, protein shakes/smoothies when I’m baking or cooking, and in my coffee.

Comparison between ‘normal’ milk vs. protein milk:

The main takeaway is that when you switch to protein milk you are getting about 2x the protein, see image above bestie.

Eat more Veggies… I mean Protein…

This may come as a surprise to you but there are so many vegetables that are HIGH in protein. Adding these veggies to your meal or just making an entirely plant-based meal is another way to get more protein into your diet. My favourite veggies that are high in protein are chickpeas, black beans and Edamame. Some other veggies that are high in protein are lentils, split peas, broccoli, spinach, split peas and other bean variations.

I love to incorporate plant-based proteins into my meals through bowls. A good ole burrito bowl is my go-to because I have my ground beef as my main protein source then I will add a cup of black beans mostly because they taste good but they’re also another way to ensure you’re eating more protein.

Not only are you eating more protein by adding these veggies to your meals but you are also getting the extra benefit of increasing your fibre intake (which helps with your gut, and bowel movements, and keeps you fuller for longer).

Eat More Protein – Easy-ish Mode

This last tip is kind of a given but it can be challenging depending on your hunger levels. How you can eat more protein by eating more protein… I know you’re probably rolling your eyes right now but so many people don’t think about this if you want to increase your protein intake, you can increase your protein portion size. So instead of 1/2 a chicken breast, you have 1 whole chicken breast. You don’t want to overdo this and end up in a scenario like I was with the Greek yogurt. start low, and try to diversify where you are getting your protein from.
