5 Healthy Habits to Help You Elevate Your Life

Oh, how I was wrong.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Of course, there are some sacrifices I would have to make, but there are more healthy habits you can add to your current lifestyle rather than take out and let me share a few:

This isn’t always a gym workout; it can be going for a daily 10-15 walk, a dance party while making breakfast, or getting ready for the day, opting for the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator. This is one of the healthy habits that are just so easy to incorporate into your current lifestyle that require some conscious thought but will reap such amazing rewards.

Eating higher protein meals.

I know this topic has been brought up in the fitness space, but I want to reiterate the importance of protein in your diet. If you are someone who frequents the gym, particularly the weights section, keeping your diet high in protein is essential to maintain the muscle you have and are building, but it also plays a part in the recovery process.

Eating a diet that is higher in protein can also keep you fuller for longer, so for people like me who love to snack, it can help tie you over until your next meal because it takes your body more energy to digest this macronutrient. So if you are in a deficit or surplus or are maintaining your weight, please remember to keep your protein high! This healthy habit will reap a lot of benefits; thank me later!

Drinking more water

Our bodies are mostly made of water, so we should try our best to keep the body hydrated because so many of our bodily functions rely on being adequately hydrated. Some things that are reliant on the water are:

  • Ridding your body of waste (hello, number one and number 2 )
  • Can improve digestion
  • If you get blood tests, the techs can find your veins a lot easier (IYKYK)
  • Getting enough sleep/going to bed earlier:

If you know me personally, I used to pride myself on my ability to function on little to no sleep but to be honest, I am suffering the consequence of this now, after YEARS of sleep deprivation. Sleep is crucial because that is the time your brain and body use to recover after everything you’ve been doing (resistance training, working, socializing, etc.). Just like how we need rest days from the gym, our body and brain need rest hours to allow for optimal function! Have you tried going to the gym, working all day, and suddenly hitting a wall because you don’t give yourself time to rest? Yeah, don’t do that, mkay?

    Still enjoying indulgent foods

Circling back to my earlier statement of thinking I would have only to give things up to embark and continue on my health journey, being able to enjoy still things that aren’t as nutrient-dense (hey, McDonald’s, aka bae) will not only make this entire journey more enjoyable, but it will also make sticking to this new lifestyle so much easier.

Let me paint you a scenario: you decide that you want to start being healthier, so you start going to the gym, start eating more nutrient-dense foods (oatmeal, brown rice, quinoa, fruits and veggies, etc.), but you decide that to be “healthy,” you need to cut out ALL fun foods so during the week you’re eating all your healthy meals but the end of the week comes, and your friends invite you out, and you go WILD. Eating all the foods you deprived yourself of during the week, then go on a weekend bender because you’ll start again on Monday. Sound familiar?

Yeah, don’t do this. It is better to add those fun/indulgent foods into your everyday diet (in moderation) while also eating nutrient-rich foods so you don’t feel trapped, living for the weekend. I have a sweet tooth, so I like to have a couple of frozen mini kinder Buenos to end my night, and ya girl is satisfied because I can eat foods that my body needs and my soul needs.
