Sephora Spring Savings Event 2023 – Makeup You NEED

My Sephora Spring Savings Makeup Recommendations

It’s the Most Wonderful time of the year!! No, it’s not Christmas, Halloween, my birthday, or any other holiday. It’s the Sephora Springs Savings event. That time of year when Sephora decides to treat us to a sale, AKA the Sephora Spring Savings Event. If you have never shopped at Sephora or have no idea what I’m talking about, let me fill you in. This event happens a few times a year. Depending on your status at Sephora, you get a discount when you shop on specific dates.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

More about the Sephora Spring Savings Event?

This sale is the best time for you to stock up on all of your favourite goodies sold at Sephora to last you until the next sale. This is probably the best financial move. But if you are like me and have a wee bit of a spending problem, you’ll shop throughout the year in addition to the sale because YOLO. So during these dates, you get either 10, 15, or 20% off your entire purchase. If you buy anything from the Sephora Collection, you automatically get 30% off, no matter what your status is.

When is the Sephora Spring Savings event?

If you are a VIB, you can start saving starting April 18th, and you get 15% off!

And lastly, if you are a beauty insider, you get 10% off and can start saving on April 18th as well!

I do want to say that I don’t want you to feel like you need to be spending money on stuff you don’t need or want just because there is a sale. Save your coint.

I want to share some products that I love and think you should check out/add to your routine. Today, we will be tackling MAKEUP, one of my loves (asides from Crocs and matcha IYKYK). This list was carefully thought out. While I could recommend a million and one products to you, I care about your wallets and not being wasteful. So I did my best to keep it to my holy grails and or products I regularly use in my rotation.

So with all that typical blogger intro stuff, let’s get onto the Sephora spring savings event recommendations! I’m going to be recommending products in the order I typically use them, so leggo!!

Primer:

I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding primer, so if it’s not your thing, you can move on to the next category. If you are a primer person like me, listen up. First up is the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base; this primer really is that GWORL. I have been hearing about this magical primer/moisturizer for years, and I didn’t think it was all that. After using it myself, I can confidently say my life has changed, and I can’t go back. This product is a moisturizer and also doubles as a primer, the perfect addition to your skin prep routine. My makeup has never looked as GOOD as when I am using this product as a primer. It is very lightweight, and a little goes a long way.

Another primer I LOVE is the Milk Hydro Grip Hydrating Primer. This is perfect for those days when you need your makeup to last all day, night, and the next day…

It is a grippy primer, so whatever makeup you put on top of this is NOT going to move. (I be stuck to you like glue GIF). When you pair this with the Hydro Grip Setting and Refreshing Spray… be prepared to have your makeup not only last but leave you with the most gorgeous dewy, and natural base. (heart eyes)

Foundation (kinda?):

I have gone through phases where I have LOVED a FULL BEAT. I have also been there where I didn’t even use it. I’d just go in with concealer, so these recommendations will kinda cater to both ends of that spectrum. My favourite and go-to foundation is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. I am in love with the finish and love that it’s buildable, too, so that’s always a plus. I am so glad that they partnered with the ICONIC Jackie Aina to expand their shade range. Because I would have missed out on this amazing product. I use the shade, Sable!

Skin Tints:

The next two products are skin tints. With summer around the block, these are perfect for adding some extra coverage if just using concealer to spot conceal isn’t your thing. The Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint has been my go-to face product ever since I purchased it. It is perfect for those no-makeup makeup days. Or if you want to dress it up with other products for a FLAWLESS BEAT. I have used this for girl’s night, for date night, and just for everyday use. When sitting down to do my makeup, my body unconsciously just reaches for it. I really can’t be mad at that.

If you want a product that’s giving lightweight but with extra coverage, then you need the Fenty Beauty EAZE drops. Apparently, everyone already knew about this product before I even realized it was a thing because I was in my SkInCaRe GiRlY era. I love this product because it’s Fenty Beauty, lol, and we STAN RIHANNA. I love the finish of this because it gives you a nice blurred natural-looking base so you can say bye-bye to pores and texture. This is the better choice for going from a normal beat to like a full glam or soft glam look (so you can pry the sheer skin tint from my cold dead fingers)

I love these products and regularly use em all. Need I say more? (After writing out three whole paragraphs LMAO)

Concealer sale recommendations:

I’m a simple gal and only have two products to recommend for this category. I love concealer because it is so versatile; you can use it to conceal areas of your face and or body, you can use it to highlight your face, you can use it as a base for eyeshadow, or carve your brows. Two I have been loving are the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer and the Dior Forever Skin Skin Correct Concealer.  I have three shades of the Rare Beauty concealers. I use them for undereye concealing, spot concealing, highlighting, and carving my brows. It is buildable and has a radiant finish, so it looks more skin-like/natural. (YES, I GET MY 8 HOURS EVERY NIGHT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH )

The Dior Concealer is what I like to use to spot conceal my acne scars and dark marks. I have recently used it as an undereye concealer for the days I am feeling lazy and want to look like I  just naturally have an even complexion. I was a little hesitant about this because of the price, but my friend who put me on assured me that it is worth it. So I bought it, and I am oh so glad I did because I LOVE it.

Blush/Contour/Bronzer and Highlighter:

I am going to be frank with y’all. For the longest time, I wasn’t a blush/bronzer and a contour girlie because there weren’t products that were accessible and pigmented enough for me. So for a very long time, I went without or got innovative and used other products like lipstick or eyeshadow. Thankfully now that isn’t an issue as much as it used to be. So here are products I use, love and work for all skin tones.

Blush:

Starting with blush because I have recently become a huge blush girl. I am OBSESSED with the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid blush. I was a little skeptical, but I fell in love immediately. The blush comes in a matte and a dewy finish for versatility; the shades I love are Grateful, which is a beautiful dewy red blush (I picked this up during the last Sephora savings event) and the second shade, Faith which is more of a berry colour and has a matte finish. I use both of them interchangeably and have even used them both at the same time, and it was a good time. Remember, a little goes a LONG way, okay… I don’t want you to buy this and use too much and wind up looking like a clown or something and blame it on me; I warned you.

Contour and Bronzer:

For contour and bronzer, I only use Fenty Beauty for my cream products because they are dark enough (and because we STAN RIHANNA). I use the Match Stix in the shade Ebony and the Freestyle Cream Bronzer in the shade Toffee Teaze. I use one or the other depending on the day and which one I can find.  For my powder products, I use two. The first is another Fenty product (are we surprised?); it’s the Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in the shades Thick Mint and Mocha Mami. A newer addition is the One/Size Made for Shade Bronze and Sculpt Trio Palette; this product shocked me because the contour product is the perfect colour to create a defined contour because it is cooler-toned, which is what your contour is actually supposed to be (If you don’t know now you know).

Highlighter:

I go through phases of using highlighter and forgetting to use it because typically my base is already dewy/glowy enough, but if I want a “lil somethin somethin” I use these products. The highlighter that has been there for me through thick and thin is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit.

I remember when these came out, everyone was losing their minds, but now everyone is quiet for some reason. I love this highlighter kit because I have the option of four highlighters to choose from depending on the ~vibe~ I am going for that day. Before I forget to mention this crucial piece of information, the colour payoff is out of this world. Like if I were to be in space, I’d be able to see your glow, but it isn’t always that intense, relax.  You can go for that 2016 style of blinding highlight, or you can gently tap your brush into the pan and go for a very subtle and natural glow.

Okay, so before we move into the next category, I am letting you know now that it is a bit extra, so brace yourselves.

Eye Makeup:

This is one of my favourite categories, but I did warn you earlier, so let’s just get into it.

Eyebrows:

Over the years, I have developed a very complex brow routine where I would legitimately use 3 different products. But I am a changed woman and normally use just one, maybe 2, depending on how I feel on that day and how much time I have to get ready.  I have recently converted to the fluffy-ish brow side or the natural-ish brow look, so during the last savings event, I bought and have been using the VIRAL Refy Brow Sculpt to mould my eyebrows into place. Go in with a brow powder like the ABH Ombre Effect brow powder duo and or the Superfine Micro-stroking brow pen to create some extra fullness.

If I am feeling like going the traditional route, I will go in with either the Benefit Precisely My Brow pencil (chef’s kiss product) rapper Kevin Gates, covered in tattoos is describing his affection for Rihanna and states he would kiss her on the forehead

or the Refy Brow Pencil to fill my brows in, then go in with the Benefit 24 Hour Brow setter to set my eyebrows in place. Nice and simple 🙂

Eyeshadow:

This is one of my favourite parts of makeup, but I will contain that excitement and recommend just a FEW products. An eyeshadow palette I think everyone needs in their collection is the Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette from Morphe. The formulation of these shadows is truly amazing and very comparable to the top brands (in my opinion). Plus, you get a wide range of shades to choose from, so you can do a very simple everyday look, and you can also go all out and create a LEWK like the makeup peeps on IG in 2016-2019.

In addition to that palette, I think purchasing individual eyeshadows is something worth investing in so that you can build your own customized eyeshadows and don’t have to grab three palettes to create one eyeshadow look. I really love the Make Up For Ever Artist Color Eyeshadows; they have a lot of fun colours to pick from, the colour payoff is UNBELIEVABLE, and they last all day (trust). For an affordable but still amazing alternative, the is the Sephora Collection Colourful Eyeshadow; these are also individual eyeshadows and yall… I was SHOOK when I swatched them in stores; I wanted to take the entire selection home because it was just that good! On that note, I feel like a lot of yall are sleeping on the Sephora collection; they truly have some hidden gems. Plus, during the sale, you get 30% off the products; thank me later.

Eye Liner/Mascara/Primer:

Starting off strong, the VIRAL Tower 28 Make Waves mascara 10000% lives up to the hype it has been receiving on socials. I was hesitant, to be quite honest, because I have baby lashes, but this mascara really added to them and made them look like grown-up lashes with plenty of volume! This was a pick-up from the last Sephora savings event; wow, how time flies.

The eyeliner I have been obsessed with that has helped me create the perfect wings is the One/Size Point Made Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Pen. If you are someone who struggles with eyeliner, I think this product is something you would be able to easily work with.

Eyeshadow Primer:

Similar to the face primer, some people think that eyeshadow isn’t necessary, and to each its own. But for me, I don’t want my eyeshadow to crease throughout the day, and I also want it to be able to actually show up on me lol. The primers from Fenty and Milk Makeup are what are used on a regular basis. They both help the eyeshadow pop, stay crease-free and last all day and night. And into the next morning if you were ever to accidentally, on purpose, fall asleep in your makeup.

If you want a little more oomph or you’re someone who does more colourful eyeshadow looks, the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden IS THAT GWORL. I don’t need to say more; buy it and let the product do the talking. (Again, thank me later)

Lips:

This is a category that has slowly become something I am enjoying all over again (after my liquid lipstick phase, lol). I have three categories: lipstick, lipgloss, and lip liners, so let’s go!

Lip Gloss:

I have become a gloss girly after drying the absolute bejeezus out of my lips with liquid lipsticks. My fave from Sephora are the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizers. My favourite shades are Hot Chocolit, Glass Slipper, and of course, Fenty Glow. I have the mini version of Hot Chocolit from a holiday set, and it really is the PERFECT brown lipgloss. You best believe I am scraping the doe-foot against the wall of the tube to get every last drop. You best believe I will be picking up a new one during this Sephora savings event.

Lipstick:

The Rare Beauty Kind Words matte Lipsticks were my reintroduction into bullet lipsticks. My favourite shades are Gifted and Wise; when I pair them with a brown lip liner, they are the perfect nude lip for us dark-skinned baddies, and they last all day. I have become a makeup by Mario girly.

The two lipsticks I love and would recommend are Nicole which is a browny nude, and Amanda is more of a berry-toned red lipstick.  I love these because they are velvety and perfect for everyday and glam looks.

Lip Liner:

You know I can’t talk about lipstick and glosses without mentioning lip liner. A lip liner can make or break a lip look. I have quite a collection of lip liners, but as of late, I have been using browns. They can make almost any lip colour instantly more wearable (Yes, even a bubblegum pink). So here goes:

First things first

I need you to know that not all brown lip liners are made equally. Some are too warm, neutral or too cool. You have to pick the vibe you want to go for and move accordingly. I tend to gravitate toward the warmer browns, but lately. I’ve been doing some experimentation with some cool-toned browns, and they do kinda give…

Okay, let’s actually get to the savings event lip recommendations:

I use the Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lip Liner in the Shade Strong, and I absolutely love! The Makeup By Mario Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip pencil in the shade Jeff is also that gworl. Not only is it a lip pencil, but there is also a lip brush so that you can blend out the colour with your lipstick. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL; there is also a sharpener that comes in the package too. I was so shocked when I opened my box because I was just expecting the lip liner.

The Make Up For Ever Artist Colour Pencil is a sneaky favourite. It is more of a cool-toned brown (612  Dimensional Dark Brown). Lately, I have been using it to line my lips. I will then go in with the warmer colour and blend for an ombre effect. But when I do just use it on its own, it’s perf; we love.

Okay, hear me out…

My last recommendation for a lip liner isn’t technically supposed to be a lip liner. It’s such a pretty brown, and sometimes you have to be innovative and use your products in ways they weren’t originally intended for. I have been using the One/Size Point Made 24-hour Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Busty brown as a lip liner. Before you come for me, just hear me out! Remember how I was talking about not having products that were made for people who share my complexion? Ringing a bell?

Well, I learned to use eyeliner and sometimes brow pencils as lip liners because the ones that were available at the time weren’t dark enough for me. But with that being said, One/Size has a lip liner that is also the perfect brown. To be honest, I didn’t see it when I went to Sephora to purchase a new lip liner. If you haven’t tried using an eyeliner pencil as a lip liner, try it out, you might just become obsessed.

Let’s Wrap This Sephora Savings Event Recommendations Up:
